The Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (VTCRC) is a subsidiary of the Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit corporation that serves the university by generating funding from private sources and aggressively managing its assets. The VTCRC has 38 buildings on 230+ acres of land with 1.2+ million square feet of space. The park is home to over 225 companies currently employing 3,500. The VTCRC has plans to construct 15 additional buildings.
This position plays an active role in construction/renovation project management for the VTCRC, coordinating the work package process to ensure timely, accurate, and complete service for projects requested by tenants and VTCRC leadership. The Project Specialist assists both internal and external entities; in formulating, organizing, and monitoring multiple interconnected projects that support the overall mission and objectives of the VTCRC.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Ability to work collaboratively with a team to include internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of accounting practices related to budget development, invoicing, and billing. Detailed physical and digital management skills related to all documentation of ongoing projects, demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook). Demonstrated knowledge of general database design principles to aid in future improvements/modifications of work package tracking system. Ability to effectively coordinate and run recurring meetings. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or other related fields. At least two years of relevant work experience in administrative operations or project management.
